What is a Life Coach?
Many of our kids have a dance coach, a soccer coach, a swim coach or a gymnastics coach. Why not a life coach? Many of us as adults have mentors, psychologists and other people who we look to for guidance, why not a life coach?
In my coaching practice, I primarily work kids, focusing on pre-teen girls aged 9-12 years, and their parents. I occasionally work with adult women who want my help as well. measure.
A life coach for kids is someone who can help your kids program their minds for success (that could be in school, social circles, sports, or life in general) and help your child build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.

People often confuse “life coaching for kids” with parenting. Life coaching goes beyond the traditional parenting roles or moral and character development, and it goes beyond learning how to behave. What kids learn in my program, most adults haven’t learned. When a parent seeks help with their child it doesn’t mean that they are an “ineffective parent.” Just as some children require more support for a learning disability or other developmental issues, many children also need greater support in the areas of coping skills, building self-esteem, overcoming shyness, dealing with bullies, and so much more. LIfe coaching for kids is about mindset development - it targets the root of the thought patterns that hold kids back. The principles I use in coaching kids can also directly be applied to coaching adults.

Life Coaching and Counselling or Therapy are not the same thing. Counselling is designed to help those with more serious issues lead a more normal, productive life or to get back on track. These types of issues might include anxiety, depression, OCDs, moving past trauma or neglect and abuse, or going through an personal crisis at home such as death of a parent or sibling, or divorce. Life coaching is about helping people reach their fullest potential - helping them get from where they are to where they want to be. The way I look at it, is therapy and counselling are methods to find healing from something a person has experienced in the past. Life coaching is about fulfilling our life’s potential and acquiring the wisdom and skills to manage anything life throws at us and face our current lives and our future with direction and purpose. Life coaching can also be used as a preventative measure.
